Race Format

For

2005

Races will be lap races instead of timed heats. The format will be championship format, just like at the Fray. On a 4 lane track, the winner of the heat would get 4 points…2nd place 3 points, etc. On a 6 lane track it would start with the winner receiving 6 points and counting down from there.

There will be qualifying. It will be important for bonus points and more. One point will be awarded to the top qualifier. Qualifying time will also be the determining factor for any ‘tie’ scores, at the end of the race. So, good qualifying is important. Each driver will have 3 practice and 3 qualifying laps. You crash; you burn! The field order will be set by the qualifying results.

Races will generally be 240 laps. This represents (8) 30 lap heats on a 4-lane track or (12) 20 lap heats on a 6-laner.  Everybody goes through each lane twice, and everybody races the exact same amount of heats. This is out of consideration for racers who drive a long way to the race. After everyone has gone through all of the lanes once (the halfway point), the field will be realigned, based on their position at that point, and that’s the order that they’ll race the second half. That will mix up who you’re racing against throughout the day.

There is no Final. The whole race is the Final, just like in real racing. If you have a disaster….oh well. You don’t get a clean slate in the next round. You deal with it and get back into the race ASAP. So, good pre-race maintenance and quick fixing of problems is imperative.

Scoring will be different too, this year, in an attempt to keep racers in the hunt, even if they miss a couple races.

Top qualifier gets one  point, and automatically wins any ties he‘s involved in.

Winner of most heats gets 1 extra point. (If more than one driver shares the most heat wins, their qualifying time will determine the winner). The final scoring will be as follows:

1st Place : 3 points

(Top 5)  2nd thru 5th : 2 points

(Top 10) 6th  thru 10th : 1 point

DNF (if you quit in the middle of a race) minus 1 point.

A perfect day would be 5 points. That would mean that you were top qualifier, won the most heats, and won the race.

1 point  for winning most heats

1 point  for being top qualifier

3 points for winning race
